Only mediocrity can be trusted to be always at its best.
-Max Beerbohm

I go by the title, “The Mediocre Renaissance Man,” not because I desire mediocrity, but because I feel that I have reached a stage of at least mediocre understanding or achievement in so many disciplines and fields of knowledge that I am something slightly less than a true renaissance man. Were I to finally achieve some level of distinction, honor, or excellence in any of these areas of specialty, then I would no longer see myself as a mediocre renaissance man.

Then again, as I age and grow, I am beginning to see areas in which my achievements may not be so mediocre after all. But it will take some time yet for me to become convinced of it.

I began this site as a way to keep in touch with my family and friends.  Since the time that I began it though, I’ve altered my views on blogging and this site has evolved into a place for me to share just about anything with anyone. I’ve blogged about many things over the years, had many odd visitors, and I look forward to continuing to use this blog as a place to collect and share things that appeal to and interest me.

It is of note that all of my intended uses for this blog are also still in effect. They can be seen above: Thoughts, Stories and Writing Practice. Those were my original ideas for what this would be for, and they are still true almost three years later.

Check out my new, updated About Me page as well.
